Camilo Rios


Dr Camilo Rios is originally from Colombia, Camilo graduated from the University of Antioquia in 2007, in 2011 he moved to London where he worked at Kings College Dental Hospital and then moved to Australia in 2013. Camilo joined Fresh Dental Care in 2019.

Camilo enjoys all aspects of dentistry including cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry, surgery and orthodontic treatments. He believes that maintaining good oral hygiene and showing clean, well cared for teeth when you smile can boost your self-esteem. Our teeth can influence how we look, speak, eat, chew, taste, socialise, and enjoy life.

Camilo enjoys keeping fit and on the weekends you will find him going to the beach or hiking in our beautiful national parks.

Cathy Do

Qualifications B Medsci USyd

Dr. Cathy Do has been working here since the beginning of 2010 after graduating from the University of Sydney in 2007. Cathy brings vibrant attitude to the practice with her happy personality and generous nature.

Cathy believes strongly in preventative dental care and has a strong passion for all aspects of dental work. As much as she loves her patients, giving people healthy and beautiful smiles is what Cathy is all about.

Dr. Do loves the climate of the area, the beautiful mountains, amazing coastlines and all the warm and friendly people. When she is not working she enjoys getting out in nature, camping and hiking.

Lisa Staudinger

BDSc, Hon BSc, MSc (Dent), DipDH

Originally from Toronto Canada, Lisa has many years of experience in oral health. In 2005 Lisa completed her diploma in dental hygiene. She subsequently went on to complete her honours BSc in biology and MSc in dentistry through the University of Toronto while concurrently working as a registered dental hygienist in Toronto, Canada. In 2013 she moved to Australia to study dentistry at Charles Sturt University.

Lisa has a strong interest in dental research having been involved in primary research surrounding dental materials, dental public health, periodontics and molecular biology. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific and dental journals and presented at various conferences throughout North America and Australia.

Lisa believes in a preventative approach to dentistry and aims to put even her most anxious patient’s at ease through education and her kind and gentle nature.

Outside of dentistry Lisa enjoys cooking, keeping active and exploring the Coffs Coast.

Neil McGregor


Neil is a registered specialist periodontist under the Dental Board of Australia. He specialises in periodontal treatment, dental implants and treatment of chronic pain syndromes.Neil gained his undergraduate dental degree (BDS) at University of Sydney in 1974. He completed a specialist degree in Periodontics (MDSc) at the University of Queensland in 1982. Neil then established a specialist practice in Newcastle NSW, with branch practices in Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Tamworth in NSW.

Neil gained his PhD at the University of Sydney in 2000 and has published over 50 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has been an editor of an international journal, on several editorial boards and has been involved in research at several universities in Australia and abroad in both dental and medical research fields. He has delivered lectures at conferences in both Australia and abroad. He is an Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and is a mentor for the postgraduate students in Periodontics at the University of Melbourne. He also is a supervisor of research projects for a number of these students. He is a consultant to a NATA accredited pathology company and has an academic interest in the science of metabolomics, microbiology, genetics, inflammatory mediated disease and chronic pain disorders.

Neil is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, the Australian Society of Periodontology, the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain, the international Association of Dental Researchers, the Australian Dental Association, and the International Team of Implantology.

In his spare time, he enjoys family time, painting and drawing.

Oleg Pushkarev

BDS (Hons)

After graduation from Saint Petersburg State Medical University in 2009, Oleg started his career in dentistry working in a specialized periodontal practice. An opportunity to broaden his horizons and experience the relaxed Australian lifestyle led him to move to Australia in 2014. Attracted by thriving opportunity living in one of the best coastal regions of NSW, Oleg moved to Coffs Harbour in 2015.

Oleg is deeply committed to taking a holistic approach to dentistry and focused on prevention of oral diseases. He strives to provide the highest level of care for his patients and frequently attends seminars and conferences to further his knowledge and expertise in dental restorative and preventative strategies. Helping people to learn more about their oral health and how they can improve it is a great satisfaction for him.  Oleg welcomes all new patients including those who are nervous and anxious and with his gentle manner creates a relaxed stress-free environment.

In his spare time, Oleg enjoys wonderful Australian nature, goes hiking and bushwalking, and has an interest in history.

Robert Backhouse

B.D.Sc. (Syd Uni)

After completing his dental degree at the University of Sydney in 1963, Dr Backhouse joined the Navy as a Lieutenant Surgeon for two years and planned on going to the states to specialise in orthodontics. However, he was asked to do a locum in Coffs harbor for six weeks, which eventuated in him purchasing the practice and for forty seven years, he provided the Coffs Harbour community with the highest levels of excellence in all aspects of dentistry.

As one of the longest serving Dentists in Coffs Harbour, Robert has been very active in attending numerous courses in all aspects of general practice, particularly in the area of orthodontics. Whilst still enjoying practicing general dentistry, Robert is providing our orthodontic treatment using the latest, most advanced and effective orthodontic techniques to achieve a lasting smile for our patients.

As a keen golfer, Robert enjoys being on the golf course and spending time with his wife Sue, his five children and five grandchildren.

Ruth Mansell

Dr Ruth Mansell was born and raised in Northern Ireland. She moved to the UK to study dentistry and she graduated from Cardiff University, Wales in 2010. She completed her Dental Foundation Training in Exeter, Co Devon. Her passion for oral surgery and working with anxious patients took her to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Ruth spent a year there working with the Oral and Maxillofacial team, increasing her skills in difficult extractions, biopsies, intravenous sedation, general anaesthetics, minor and major facial trauma and oncology cases. During this year she completed her Diploma with the Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons England.

Ruth and her husband decided to make the move out to Australia and have never looked back. Ruth adores the climate here, the beautiful coastlines and nearby cities. She loves to surf and kayak in her spare time and has recently completed her Open Water Dive Course.

Sam Brothill


Sam joined Fresh Dental Care in 2016 and with nearly 10 years of experience in dentistry, he brings a wide range of experience to the team, from working in both the UK and Australia.  He graduated from the University of Sheffield, UK in 2009 and subsequently worked in the NHS for two years, during which he attained the prestigious membership to the Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons UK.

Since moving to Australia in 2012, Sam has worked in a number of practices in the Sydney region and subsequently moved to Coffs Harbour to enjoy our better lifestyle. Dr Brothill’s philosophy with patients is to try and make dentistry as pleasant and gentle an experience as possible, with an emphasis on clear communication and patient education. He is devoted to treat all his patients to the highest standard of care and enjoys all aspects of dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, Sam is either busy looking after his little baby boy or enjoying our beautiful Australian beaches. Additionally, he is a keen CrossFitter, a full time chef at home and an enthusiastic photographer.

Sharon Marinucci

BDS / BSci Dent (Hons)

Sharon is one of our more experienced dentists, graduating from Adelaide University in 1996. She moved into the local area soon after graduating, falling in love with the lifestyle and community.

Since 1998 Sharon has been an integral part of dentistry in Fresh Dental Care’s 4 practices in Coffs Harbour, Urunga, Macksville and Grafton. Her interest is in composite build-ups. However it is also known that Dr. Marinucci has a passion for working holistically, considering all aspects which contribute to optimum dental health.

Outside of dentistry, Sharon loves to spend quality time with her family within the local community. The love of the climate, the fauna and flora, the wonderful beaches and the beautiful older houses of Grafton are what has kept Sharon in love with this area for so many years.

Margaret Kleinig


Margaret has worked as a dental surgeon for over 35 years now after graduating from the University of Queensland in 1978. Within her impressive career she has worked for 6 years in the public health system as well as 15 years in her own practice.

Dr. Margaret Kleinig is one of the most experienced dental surgeons in our team. She generally prefers a conservative approach to dentistry with minimal intervention and also has quite a fascination for cosmetic dentistry.

Margaret’s interests, apart from dentistry, include bushwalking, reading and a passion for scuba diving. Yet, what has kept Margaret close by has been the beauty she sees in coastal country towns, the magnificent climate and of course the people who make up the community.

Benjamin Mansell


Ben moved from the UK to Australia, with his wife Ruth, back in 2012.

After graduating from Cardiff University in 2009 he was accepted into the dental foundation training scheme in his home county Devon. There he spent a busy year in practice working with medically compromised and anxious patients.

His training and passion for oral surgery took him to Derriford Hospital, the designated trauma centre in the region. Ben spent two years working with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, developing his oral surgery skills and gained invaluable experience dealing with major trauma and oncology cases. This training was the perfect preparation for his Diploma with the Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons of England, achieved in 2011.

Ben uses his surgical skills that he has gained and developed them further to include placing implants, and bone grafting when necessary.

Mindie (Minh Dieu) Nguyen

BoH, Mdent

Dr Mindie Nguyen is a gentle and caring dentist originally from Sydney who now calls the beautiful Coffs Harbour region home. She completed her Masters of Dentistry at Griffith University in the Gold Coast. Dr Nguyen has a compassionate and ethical approach to patient care and endeavours to make her patients as comfortable possible. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has a strong interest in restorative and aesthetic dentistry. Outside of dentistry, Dr Nguyen loves reading, going on hikes and going to the gym.


An Oral Health Therapist has a double degree as a hygienist and a therapist. They can treat patients of all ages for general cleans, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instruction, periodontal treatments, X-rays and more. They can also treat people under the age of 18 years for dental treatments, as a therapist they are trained in most aspects of dental care for young children and teenagers and provide assistance to parents with healthy food options and oral hygiene instruction.

Susan Waldorf


Susan is a Dental Hygienist that graduated in 2012 from Newcastle University. However, throughout 2013 she furthered her qualifications by completing a second degree in Dental Therapy which expanded her skills to enable her to complete restorative and preventative dental treatment on children. She has completed a further accredited course on dental whitening and aims to continuously expand her knowledge through further education.

Having grown up on the Mid North Coast and experiencing the lifestyle this area has to offer, her intention was always returning and working within the community which she calls home.
Susan’s focus is on preventative dental treatment to patients of all age groups. She is passionate about treating children and adolescents; aiming to give patients the knowledge she has gained whilst ensuring that each individual receives the best care possible.

Susan is pleased to be back and reconnecting with this beautiful part of the coast, spending her time enjoying the magnificent waterways whilst making a difference within the mid north coast region by improving the oral health of the community.

Dental therapist

Fresh Dental Care provides a Dental Therapist at each of our locations. A therapist treats people under the age of 18 years. A therapist is trained in most aspects of dental care for young children and teenagers in the dental environment and assists with healthy food options and oral hygiene instruction for parents. Fresh Dental Care offers special rates for some dental treatments when you book your child in with a dental therapist.

Bernadette Basset


Bernadette Basset was born and raised in Grafton. After studying at Westmead College of Dental Therapy, she holds a diploma in dental therapy and also a Bachelor of Indigenous Studies, Bernadette has worked as a Dental Therapist in the public arena for over 30 years and moved across to the private sector six years ago.

Bernadette possesses vast experience working with children and teenagers who come from many backgrounds and brings a wealth of experience to Fresh Dental Care.

Bernadette loves working with young people and believes that she can make their dental experience a more positive one which will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Preventing accidents on the sporting fields has always been a passion of hers and she has spoken to many sporting bodies about the necessity of wearing mouthguards. Bernadette is also very interested in the area of Orthodontics and would love to see all teenagers have straight teeth. Bernadette regularly teaches at the local preschools giving vital dental information to the children.

Bernadette is married to Leith and has 3 beautiful children; Tim, Billy and Jacobi. Tim is now a full time teacher, Billy works in the retail industry and Jacobi is still at school.

Judy Auld


Jude graduated with a Diploma of Dental Therapy in Brisbane, 1980. After graduating, Jude worked with the Queensland Health School Dental Service on the Gold Coast for over 35 years and recently moved to Coffs Harbour.

Jude is genuinely passionate in working with children and creating trust in her young patients through a gentle approach which makes her patients feel at ease. She is dedicated in encouraging parental involvement with their children’s oral health from an early age to create good oral health habits for life.

Jude has been involved in Oral Health Education including Preschool toothbrushing programs, healthy lunchbox programs in schools and classroom lessons.

Outside the surgery, Jude loves travelling, the beach, exercising and heading off camping at every opportunity.

Wendy Summerill


Mrs Wendy Summerill, Dental Therapist, is consulting at Fresh Dental Care – Urunga and Macksville, to specifically meet the needs of the younger members in our community. Wendy’s name and face will be familiar to a lot of local families as not only is she local but she has already cared for many of their children through the Coffs Harbour Community Dental Clinic, based at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus. Wendy has over 35 years experience as a therapist and exclusively sees children from preschool age and earlier, up to 18 year old school leavers.

Wendy also emphasises the importance of a custom fitted mouthguard for children who play sport. Compared with the cost of extensive dental treatment and emotional trauma caused by damage to permanent teeth, the cost of a custom-made mouthguard is a small price to pay.

Dental hygienist

Fresh Dental Care provides our patients with a hygiene department as we feel this is best patient care. Hygienists perform many treatments including general cleans, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instruction, fissure sealants, periodontal treatments. They also take x -rays. Hygienists are an integral part to our dental team providing essential preventive treatment to reduce long term dental problems.

Erin Slinger


Graduating from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2016 and a Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in 2017, Erin is an enthusiastic Dental Hygienist with a passion for preventative care and creating awareness of oral and systemic disease processes. Erin has recently moved back to her home town to be closer to family and hopes to contribute to the community’s oral health care for many years to come.

Erin has a gentle and caring approach to providing a high quality of dental care and enjoys working in close team collaboration to ensure patients are receiving comprehensive options regarding their dental treatment and personal needs.

Jessica Cantrill

Bachelor of Oral Health

Jessica has been working within the dental industry for the last 12 years. Jessica started as a dental assistant with the Fresh Dental Care Team and then studied at Newcastle University where she completed a Bachelor of Oral Health. Jessica graduated in 2008 and had been working as the head of the hygiene department at a central coast practice for the past 7 years. Jessica has recently moved her family back to her original home town, to be closer to family and to return working with the Fresh Dental Care Team.

As a qualified Dental Hygienist she provides an important service which includes treating, managing and maintaining overall oral health while providing oral hygiene education. Jessica is passionate about her work, aiming to provide an excellent service in a friendly and caring manner to ensure her patients are always comfortable.
